Benjamin Nicot


Benjamin Nicot - Training Assessment specialist at the CSTJF Laboratory of Petrophysics

Benjamin holds a PhD in NMR from IFP Énergies nouvelles (IFPEN – Institut français du pétrole et des énergies nouvelles). Prior to joining Total in 2013, he worked in research, wireline operations and log analysis at Schlumberger.

He is now an experimental petrophysicist at the CSTJF Laboratory of Petrophysics (Centre Scientifique et Technique Jean Féger).

Benjamin is currently working on laboratory studies evaluating the oil and gas potential of various rock formations. He handles studies for affiliates, and is also heavily involved in R&D, developing innovative laboratory techniques.

  • Benjamin has authored or co-authored more than 35 papers featured in various journals and conferences, and six patents.
  • He is a reviewer for the Petrophysics journal, the Society of Core Analysts (SCA) and teaches petrophysics at IFP School.
  • The work presented for Best Innovators 2016 was also patented and was selected for the cover of the Petrophysics journal in February 2016.
