Bertrand Segues, environment technician (water treatment)


Bertrand has been working since 1999 as an environment technician for the Platform for Experimental Research in Lacq. He studied at the ESTBA (Higher School for Applied Biology), specializing in industrial microbiology. Bertrand joined Elf Atochem in 1996, taking on the position of biochemical technician in the Lacq Research Group.


As part of his assignments in the laboratory, Bertrand works on R&D and performs diagnoses on the biotreatment of wastewater from Total group sites. He participates in feasibility, biodegradability and toxicity studies using respirometry. In the field, Bertrand offers technical assistance to the organic wastewater treatment facilities of refineries, petrochemical sites, ARKEMA sites, and others. He is currently active in installing two biological treatment pilot facilities on the Djeno oil terminal (Congo), and monitoring an offshore membrane separation facility for TEPNL (North Sea).




  • Monitoring of the installation of an organic treatment pilot facility on the VERMILION site of Parentis-en-Born (Landes department). This project won 2nd prize at the in-house Best Innovators 2017 competition, and a patent was subsequently filed.
