Eric Chaput, Manager of the Unconventional Resources R&D Program

After graduating from Nancy’s Ecole des Mines and spending two years in research at the Imperial College, Eric Chaput joined the Total group in 1990 as a Reservoir Engineer. He filled several operational and R&D positions in that field, in affiliates and at headquarters.

After working on different projects in Africa (Cameroon, Angola, Congo), he became Geoscience Manager for TEP USA, holding the position from 2007 to 2010. Back in France, he specialized in unconventional resources, supervising Geoscience teams for the Exploration Division and later the Development Division.

In 2015, Eric integrated the R&D Division, where he was first manager of the Tight Oil Gas Shale project. His responsibilities were then extended in 2016 to the entire unconventional resources program.
