Laurent Castanié, team lead Digital & Innovation (DIN) and Data Analytics Competence Center (DACC)
After graduating from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie (ENSG) in Nancy in 2003, Laurent Castanié earned a Ph.D. from the ENSG and from the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA) in 2006, on the visualization of massive volumes of data applied to seismic interpretation. He started his career at Paradigm Geophysical, a software provider for the Upstream Oil & Gas. He was then a technical lead on several software development projects of reservoir modelling solutions for major and independent O&G companies in the US, Europe and Middle East. Laurent started at Total in 2012, where he was initially involved in the management of geosciences data, especially data architecture initiatives to facilitate access to relevant information, before exploring data analytics opportunities and initiating the Competitors Cruncher in collaboration with people in charge of scouting and strategy benchmarking within Exploration. After launching several data analytics projects, he took responsibility of the Data Analytics Competence Center (DACC) to coordinate and develop data analytics initiatives for Total Exploration & Production, in relationship with subsurface activities and industrial assets.
