Matthieu Naegel



Matthieu Naegel, Manager of the Wells R&D Program


Matthieu Naegel is an engineer who graduated from the Arts & Métiers and the French Petroleum Institute. He joined the Total group in 1992 as a drilling engineer. He successively took on the position of Drilling Manager in Libya and Operations Manager in Malaysia.


Alternating operational jobs in affiliates and R&D projects at headquarters, Matthieu’s work focused more specifically on extended-reach drilling (ERD) in the South of Argentina, the ultra-deep offshore (in water depths of 3,000 meters) in Gabon, and unconventional resources.


In 2016, he joined the R&D Division of the Exploration & Production branch, where he manages the Wells Program.
