Nicolas Mottet, Reservoir Engineer

After graduating in Petroleum Engineering from ENS Mines de Nancy and IFP School, Nicolas joined Total in 2005 as a reservoir engineer, working on subsurface dynamic simulation models for Preowei, Hassi Messaoud and Elgin. He then worked in Angola on history matching and maintenance for the Rosa model, he has spent the past decade gaining extensive experience in unconventional reservoir engineering.

After an initial three-year position as a reservoir engineer seconded to Chesapeake Energy, he was appointed 2G&R Project Leader in 2013, coordinating predevelopment projects in the Vaca Muerta play. Back at our French headquarters since 2016, he is currently a senior reservoir engineer, with strong expertise in stimulated rock volume (SRV) characterization, play identification and development, resource evaluation and production optimization. He is also in charge of an R&D subproject about unconventional reservoir engineering.
