Patrick Baldoni-Andrey, specialist in water treatment

Patrick is a water and pollution treatment engineer with a degree from the École nationale supérieure d’ingénieurs (ENSI) in Poitiers and a PhD from the University of Poitiers on water chemistry and methods of improving the biodegradability of industrial effluent. He has 16 years’ experience in various areas of industrial water treatment: wastewater treatment (physical oil removal, physical-chemical and biological treatments and advanced oxidation processes), water recycling (adsorption, physical and biological filtration methods, membrane technologies and desalination) and in assessing the impact on the natural environment. He is also versed in relations with government authorities, both on-site and at a national level, in France and in Europe, where he has participated in or led several working groups.

 

Projects

  • Patrick was Water coordinator in Total’s Refining HSE division from 2006 to 2011, before becoming Water Treatment manager in the Industrial Chemical Refining division in 2012.
  • Subsequently in 2013 and 2014, he supervised water treatment for numerous projects in the Methods department for Total Exploration & Production.
  • From 2014 to 2017, he was in charge of the R&D component of water treatment for Total Exploration & Production, and during this time, he participated in two projects, Flex and BioMEM, that were finalists in the internal “Best Innovators” competition in 2016 and 2017.
  • Since 2017, he is the manager of the Environment Department of the Platform for Experimental Research at Lacq (PERL, France).

 

Collaborations

  • Between 2001 and 2015, Patrick, alone or with others, organized around ten conferences on various aspects and techniques relating to industrial water.
  • He has co-authored numerous publications in these areas, both in connection with various conferences (IWA, SPE and Concawe) and in reviews and technical works.
  • He has participated in representing European Refining during the negotiations for BREF Refining at the European office of the IPPC and chaired the Concawe working group on refinery discharge.
