Roland Umasabor, Onshore Installation manager, OML 58

 

After completing his Engineering degree in Electrical & Electronics at University of Benin, Nigeria in 1998, Roland Umasabor worked for five years as a Distributed Controls System (DCS) engineer with Foxboro (now a Schneider company), an OEM of Control & Safety Systems.

 

Between 2003 and 2005, he participated, in Wallsend, United Kingdom, as commissioning engineer of the Foxboro process control system and Triconex safety systems for Shell’s Bonga FPSO, the first deepwater FPSO in Nigeria.

 

In 2005, he joined Total E&P Nigeria as Distributed Controls System engineer and assigned to the field operations métier within the JV offshore operations in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, supporting OML 99-Amenam. In 2010, he was assigned to offshore operations as the head of Field Maintenance, responsible for OML 100-Odudu, OML 102-Ofon and FSO Unity.

 

In June 2012, he proceeded to IFP in France for a five-months certificate course on Drilling & Completions Operations and thereafter, in January 2013, he was assigned on expatriation to the Drilling & Wells Métier at the headquarters in Pau as drilling operations engineer to follow drilling operations within the MEANA (Middle East, Asia and North Africa) sector. In 2014 he was reassigned to Angola as a Light Well Intervention engineer on exposure on subsea and light well intervention activities. Since May 2016, he has been working as Onshore Installation Manager (OIM) for OML 58, an onshore asset in Obagi, Nigeria.
